Well, I guess I’m all in now

watch out world, I’m writing versus commenting now!

Hello there! I’ve been meaning to do this for quite a while now (and being prodded by those that know me for even longer). I thought it appropriate that I start by covering what types of things I will be writing about, me, my style (assuming I have one) and putting out a few ideas that you are more than welcome to comment on or recommend I go ahead with. I will do my best to be factual, funny where appropriate, and interesting in my topic selections. I don’t yet know how often I will publish, as I tend to keep a rather full “dance card”. I will also try to respond to your inputs as often and quickly as possible.

As to my writing style, I tend to use the “stream of consciousness” approach. For “serious” articles I tend to write formally with footnote, references, links and so on. Hopefully it works for you. So, what do I do here to stay busy? Well, Covid took my job away, and my ex-employer downsized staff permanently, so. Going on 68 this month it isn’t easy to find a good job (which I was fortunate to have had) that pays well, gives me slack (yes, sub-genius reference here) and is safe. I am happily in a good relationship with a wonderful woman (mean as hell but wonderful-as you will see, if I survive her seeing this, I am a jokey-jokester). We both cook in a number of nationalities, all from raw materials (no packaged prepared food for us), and have a large organic garden to support this. I do a lot of the house cleaning, bake yeast breads, maintain the yard, feed the cats and the dog (shared duty), and read a lot.

Big music fan also (have Greg Koch streaming from his house in the background as I type). History, science, and damn near all else interests me. We are both motorheads, although I don’t wrench or paint much anymore. Used to have a business designing/building custom furniture, as well as repair/restoration up in PA many lives ago. Also had a computer repair business with Regina for over ten years up there.

I plan to review/talk about what I have been learning from my reading as one subject line. Another will be culled from my thinking inspired by other Medium writers I read. Obviously the world at large brings bounty beyond belief, so a smorgasbord of politics, current events, art, science, weird shit, and more will be “on the plate” too. We live in rural west-central GA out where the cattle roam. Love it, but in one sense it is like living in Mordor being that we are in MAGA land. Used to live in and love Atlanta but not now. Five shootings since Monday, robberies, car jackings, and the worst drivers/traffic ever (and I grew up in the San Fernando valley in CA, drove all over the state, and PA, and NJ, Canada, you get the idea) so we avoid it at all costs. To bad as for seeing live music (when possible-Covid) or other desirable things, the risk is just to much for us. Oh well!
